Monsour del Rosario is a Filipino Olympian, a politician and also an actor, and being a taekwondo champion himself, he spoke up about the incident of bullying that happened in Ateneo de Manila junior high school.

In a video that has since went viral, it was seen that a junior high school student who also happened to be a taekwondo champion, bullied several students verbally, as well as physically. The video has since been making rounds in social media where many people have taken to hating the child, as well as his parents for “not raising him right”.

Raise your children better

In a statement that del Rosario released, there he said that he condemned the act of bullying and that the responsibility fell on the hands of the parents to raise their children better.

Del Rosario said that sons needed to be raised well, but more especially those who are into the martial arts.

The Philippine Taekwondo Association had also released a statement condemning the bullying of the student. The school has also looked into the incident and that proper sanctions will be implemented after the investigation.

Below are his words:

“I’ve received literally hundreds of texts and calls in the last 24 hours from our colleagues in the press and personal friends asking for a statement on the bullying incident that took place in Ateneo recently.

The amount of messages increased exponentially after it was revealed that the young bully is an alleged taekwondo black belt and gold medalist.

Here’s my statement

Yes, none of us are perfect — we’ve all made our mistakes and should not judge people loosely. But to the parents of the bully, let’s be very clear here, this is as firm a judgment as you will ever get from me: Your son is a FAILED representation of our beautiful sport.

Every aspect of the viral video was hideous, weak and unacceptable.

RAISE YOUR CHILDREN BETTER. LET’S ALL RAISE OUR CHILDREN TO BE BETTER. LET’S RAISE OUR SONS — PARTICULARLY THOSE IN THE MARTIAL ARTS — TO BE GOOD MEN."

Monsour Del Rosario, Congressman and the only non-Korean of all time to be inducted into the Taekwondo Hall of Fame.
