I did not make a face - Mariel de Leon

Beauty queen, and Miss International 2017 contestant, Mariel de Leon has just returned to the country and one of the first things she did when interviewed was to clarify that she did not ‘make a face’ at Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, as the latter claimed.

The issue came on during the social media war the two women had.

According to a report by PEP, de Leon arrived in Manila with her mother Sandy Andolong ang was surprised with the media that welcomed them with questions regarding de Leon’s reaction to Mayor Duterte-Carpio’s post against her.

According to the post made, the mayor claimed that the beauty queen made a face at her and she and other Binibining Pilipinas winners laughed at her.

"Meron ako personal experience sa kanya, but I’m too tired to make kwento. I believe pageant judges see through the physical beauty and examine the heart. Para bang Ms. Venezuela sa Ms. Universe 2016. Parang ganyan. This is a schadenfreude moment for me. Sa binisaya pa, ang gabà di gyud magsabà," Inday Sara wrote on the post

This was then denied by de Leon, stating that it never happened, as the only time they were together in an event was at the SMX Convention Center and the two women, according to de Leon were far away from each other.

De Leon also mentioned that she along with the other beauty queens were talking about something else during that time.

When asked to comment on the last post of the mayor towards her, she says “There’s nothing more to say. Except that I wish her well, and God bless us all.”

The beauty queen says that she does not want the issue to be bigger, and that is should not be talked about anymore.
